Google’s Gboard Keyboard Now Uses AI to Make Your Conversations Interesting

Google has been one of the notable companies to build AI into a lot of its consumer-faced products. The company’s Gboard keyboard, for example, already has a ton of intelligence built into it. And now, Google is taking things further with some new AI-powered features.

Gboard on Android now uses on-device AI to make your conversations interesting. In other words, it will now automatically recommend emojis, stickers, and GIFs that you can send with your message. When you are typing something — like “happy birthday” — the Google logo will turn into an actionable GIF button that you can click on to attach the suggested content to your message — this could be emojis, stickers, or GIFs.

The feature obviously isn’t a mindblowing AI, though I can definitely see how it can save a lot of time when you are looking for the perfect GIF or emoji for a message. It’s now available for all Android users in English, with support for more languages coming in the feature. It’ll likely come to iOS later on, but no official word on that — yet.
