HP’s Refreshed Omen Line Includes a Laptop With a 240Hz Display and a 65-inch Monitor

HP is launching a new line of gaming hardware today. The company is introducing a new Omen gaming laptop, a new Omen gaming computer, and a big Omen gaming monitor.

The company’s new Omen gaming laptop, the new Omen 15, now comes with NVIDIA’s next-gen graphics. The new GPUs come with NVIDIA’s Max-Q design, though details about the new cards are yet to be officially revealed. NVIDIA will likely reveal more details about the new GPUs sometime this week, so make sure to keep an eye out. It’s probably the new RTX 2080 series, just designed for laptops.

Apart from the next-gen NVIDIA GPUs, HP’s new Omen 15 comes with a 15.6-inch FHD display and even though that may not be very impressive at the first glance — there’s actually a lot more to it. The display has a refresh rate of 240Hz, with a response rate of 4ms, and that will make your gameplays look really beautiful.

Other features of the device include the 8th gen Intel Core i7-8750H processor, up to 1TB of HDD storage, up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM, dual speakers tuned by Bang & Olufsen, and a full-size 4-zone backlit keyboard. The device will be available next month, starting at $1,369.

There’s also the new OMEN Obelisk Desktop, HP’s new gaming computer. The computer comes with Intel’s 9th gen Intel Core processors, with up to the i9-9900K. For the GPU, you can get up to the NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti GPU, and up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM from HyperX for the memory.

The machine comes with a new liquid cooling system for improved thermal management, dual M.2 SSD with RAID0 support, and an upgradeable power supply unit. Starting at $2,249 for the model with the Intel Core i7-9700K, 16GB RAM, and RTX 2080, the device will be available from March.

And lastly, there’s new Omen X Emperium. HP is launching a bunch of monitors this year and the Omen X Emperium is probably the most notable with its 65-inch display panel with support for NVIDIA G-Sync. The 4K UHD display has a refresh rate of 144Hz, a response time for 4ms, a 95% DCI-P3 color gamut, built-in NVIDIA shield, and an integrated “award-winning” soundbar. The monitor will cost a whopping $4,999 and be available for purchase this February.

HP is getting serious in the gaming space. But the 65-inch screen should have been FreeSync 2 instead of G-Sync. It's more a console screen than a PC gaming screen IMO.

RAID 0? Ouch. Wait for the wails of lost data.
