Qualcomm Is Bringing Quick Charge to Wireless Charging Pads

Qualcomm is bringing Quick Charge to wireless charging. The company announced at MWC that Quick Charge will now officially be supported on compatible wireless charging pads, allowing users to quickly charge their devices wirelessly on supported devices.

Qualcomm says there’s been a lot of new wireless chargers that claim to support Quick Charge without actually passing through the required compliance process. The company is now changing that by officially introducing wireless charging support for Quick Charge and allowing wireless charger makers to actually ensure proper support. The company’s expanded Quick Charge compliancy program includes both forward and backward compatibility.

The company says wireless charging pads that support Quick Charge will work with all Quick Charge 2.0, 3.0, 4, and newer adapters. “As part of the expanded compliancy program, additional testing will take place to ensure Quick Charge and Qi interoperability, aiming to provide consumers with a seamless wireless charging experience,” the company said.

With more and more phones now coming with wireless charging capabilities, it is no surprise to see Qualcomm focus on the speed of wireless charging while making sure things aren’t being advertised improperly. With the official support for wireless chargers on Quick Charge and the expanded compliance program, you’ll no longer have to worry about a wireless charger providing “fake” support for Quick Charge.
