OnePlus Announces OnePlus 7T Pro

Well, now it all makes (some) sense: OnePlus is upgrading its flagship smartphone to match the capabilities of the OnePlus 7T. The new model, called the OnePlus 7T Pro, provides all of the great features from its predecessor plus the new features from the 7T.

There’s just one problem: It’s not coming to the United States.

In effect, the OnePlus 7T Pro provides the same form factor, curved display, and pop-up selfie camera as its predecessor. But it has been upgraded with the Snapdragon 855+ processor, improved camera system with macro mode, and Warp Charge 30T fast charger from the OnePlus 7T. It is, in the words of OnePlus, a “performance beast,” with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of fast UFS 3.0 storage. And it includes an even larger battery.

OnePlus also introduced a special edition McLaren version of the OnePlus 7T Pro called the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition that includes 12 GB of RAM and unique black design with papaya orange highlights. It can be matched to an Alcantara case for an even more unique look and feel.

OnePlus also announced a partnership with PUBG Mobile that will bring an optimized PUBG gaming experience to OnePlus devices. And the firm’s Bullet Wireless 2 earbuds are now available in an olive green color.

The OnePlus 7T Pro will cost £699 and will be available starting next week, while the McLaren Edition will set you back £799 and go on sale in early November.

You said it is not available in the US but you did not say where it is available. The listed prices suggest it is available in the UK. I am tempted to have my sister pick one up in London and bring it home for me the next time she comes to visit.

In reply to Brianahodges:

Well, the OnePlus Pro 7 and OnePlus 7T are both available in the United States. So it isn't like we are missing out on anything. The differences between the 7 Pro and 7T pro are pretty minimal. You get a plus version of the 855, a slightly bigger battery, higher baseline storage (256 vs 128), and the newer version of Warp Charge which is marginally faster than the one that the 7 Pro shipped with.

So in the US I'd imagine you'll have the OnePlus 7T + OnePlus 7 Pro with the 6T being dropped from the lineup. Unless OnePlus elected to drop everything but the 7T in the US but it is still basically the same phone as the 7 Pro.

What market share does OnePlus have in the global market, the China market and the US market?

They seem to get a lot of coverage on this site for a relatively minor player in the US.

I know they're a major player in the India market.

In reply to MikeGalos:

OnePlus are owned by BBK, a large Chinese manufacturer. They own Realme, OPPO, Vivo and oneplus brands and a few others I cant recall, sorry. OPPO and Vivo hold "about" 40% China market share. Huawei about 36-40% too, Xiaomi around 13%. BBK use these brands to fill specific market segments and they do seem to pool tech and manufacturing innovation across their brands as a collective.

In India, BBK brands hold about 30% total, Xiaomi 28%. Where it gets tricky is that in India OnePlus fall into the premium handset category and get compared to Samsung and apple. In this market segment, Oneplus outsell Samsung and apple with about a 37% market share… I don't have sales numbers though and it would be great to compare to the overall Indian market share.

OnePlus sales in the US are very small Id guess and fall in to the lowest "others" market share category.

As with most Chinese owned brands Europe and India are their main export sales regions along with an upcoming Africa. Obviously the Chinese home market is huge. The Indian and Chinese market is where its all occurring for smartphone growth and will be for some time to come.

Its only my opinion, but the manufacturing pace of Chinese brands which are able to react to customer design trends exceedingly quickly is very impressive. The speed and rate of handset model/spec/feature upgrades coming out of the Chinese factories and into their users hands is key in the markets they're dominating. Companies like BBK have a series of sub brands each innovating around pooled tech and a success for one soon transfers to the others very quickly. Im pretty sure OnePlus improved camera sowftare will have come directly from OPPO's cameras advancements this year, maybe ;-)

P.S my figures could well be out of date by now but they will be close

OnePlus' product line up makes absolutely no sense to me. I'm assuming the 6T goes away sometime in the near future which leaves you with the 7 Pro and 7T in the US. Those two phones have so little differentiation it isn't clear why they both exist in the product line up. Maybe OnePlus is dropping the 6T and the 7 Pro from the US and only offering a single 7T model in the US.

It gets even more nuts if you look at the UK line-up. They have the 7 Pro, 7 Pro 5G, 7 (aka 6T), 7T Pro, 7T, AND the 7T Pro McLaren Edition. That is 6 phones that have very little differentiation between each other aside from the 5G version of the 7 Pro and the on steroids 7T Pro McLaren. They range from 499 to 799 pounds.

Maybe a bunch of those go away after the newest revs are out over the next couple weeks. But that is a lot of devices that have very little to set themselves apart within the lineup.

In reply to rmlounsbury:

I think the beauty of this line up is the price range. Whatever phone you buy, you get a good deal. Yes, the differences are small, but if there is a certain need for you, you'll most likely find the phone that suits your needs.

It's funny how to all US media the 7T Pro comes as surprise… every single article on the 7T in Europe also mentioned the 7T Pro which was expected to be released a few weeks later. And that's exactly how it happened now.

Of course I agree that the US lineup is kind of a mystery. 6T, 7 Pro and 7T. WTF? Over here it's clear: 6 -> 6T -> 7 and 7 Pro -> 7T and 7T Pro. Still the 7T is too close to the 7 Pro…
