How would ANY form of solicitation, including listing hardware available for selling or trading, by parties other than Blue Whale Web fail to be considered SPAM on this site?

Tangent: why would BWW allow this site's comments section to become polluted by such offers?

That could work but I wonder if it's worth the trouble of setting it up.

Would it be popular?

We don't really have a rule that explicitly covers this type of thing. I'll ask the team this week, but my gut tells me that maybe this isn't the best place for it.

One thing I would personally be OK with, I think, is someone here creating a forum post that points to an item for sale on some other service. I think. Anyway, will ask about this.

Legally, how could you legally discriminate between some users posting their used laptop, and XYZ Pump-n-Dump posting their penny stocks?

In reply to hrlngrv:

You are assuming people would actually read a terms of service. Too a certain extent, Paul and BWW can set the rules however they want.

Most other enthusiast forums that I'm a member of, think car or motorcycle forums, have a dedicated buy/sell/trade section, with rules on what type of items can be listed, and they sometimes also limit who can post there, e.g. premium members only.

As long as it is properly separated, and there are controls against spam, I think it's worthwhile.
