Meta—the company formerly known as Facebook—today announced new integrations between its Workplace productivity collaboration service and Microsoft Teams.
“We’re launching an integration between Workplace and Teams, which will give employees access to content from Workplace within Teams without having to switch back and forth between the two apps,” Meta’s Ujjwal Singh writes in the announcement post. “We’ll also be adding the ability to stream from Teams meetings into Workplace groups.”

According to Mr. Singh, the integrations will make it easier for customers that use both solutions to stay up to date with important information, and they will open up more opportunities for company-wide feedback and engagement. And Teams meeting streaming will let employees watch live meetings and events no matter which app they are using. They can also watch recorded Teams meetings at a later time.
“One thing I learned from the pandemic is that companies don’t just rely on one tool to get their work done, so it is our responsibility as leaders in the space to make sure the tools they use integrate and interoperate with each other,” Microsoft corporate vice president Jeff Teper added. “We have a shared vision of offering our customers choice and flexibility, so it made sense for us to come together to help our mutual customers unlock collaboration and break down silos within their organizations.”
Meta notes that customers such as Flight Centre Travel Group, Lockton, and Vodafone have been testing Workplace integration with Teams and are “excited” by the results. And this isn’t the first Workplace and Microsoft integration: since last year, Workplace customers have been able to integrate with SharePoint, OneDrive, and the Microsoft 365 suite of applications.
