Microsoft has started rolling out the April 2022 system update for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles. This is a pretty minor release with only two new features, including HDMI-CEC improvements.
For those unfamiliar, HDMI-CEC is a technology standard that allows devices connected to your TV through HDMI to communicate back and forth with it. The April 2022 Update for Xbox introduces a new option to switch your TV input to your Xbox when you press the Xbox button on your controller.

This can be a really useful feature if you have multiples devices connected to your TV, and you don’t like reaching out to your TV remote to switch HDMI inputs. To enable this feature, go to Settings > General > TV & display options > Device control > HDMI CEC > Switch TV input using controller.
The other new feature in the April 2022 Xbox Update update is a Mute option in settings that will silence all sounds on the Xbox OS. To enable it, go to Settings > Accessibility > Audio, and select Mute navigation sounds, Mute notification sounds, or both. Unfortunately, this Mute option doesn’t apply to the Xbox boot animation, which produces a pretty loud sound every time you turn on your Xbox console.
