WhatsApp has started rolling out new features to make group calls a better experience for all users. It’s now possible to mute other participants in a group call, which can be useful when some people forgot to mute themselves when they needed to.
WhatsApp currently supports group calls with up to 32 participants, and the app is also adding new banners indicating when someone joins a group call offscreen. During a call, WhatsApp will also allow users to message other participants privately.

Some new features for group calls on @WhatsApp: You can now mute or message specific people on a call (great if someone forgets to mute themselves!), and we've added a helpful indicator so you can more easily see when more people join large calls. pic.twitter.com/fxAUCAzrsy

In addition to these group calls improvements, WhatsApp also announced that more granular privacy settings are coming to the app. WhatsApp users will now be able to select specific contacts that can see their Profile photo, About, and Last Seen status, adding more choices beyond the existing ‘Everyone’, My contacts’, and ‘Nobody’ options.
Compared to other messaging apps, WhatsApp still doesn’t make it easy to move your chat history across platforms. While it was already possible to transfer messages from an iPhone to an Android phone, the app finally added the ability to transfer chat history from Android to iOS as well.
