Meta has just released a redesigned version of its WhatsApp app for Mac that now supports group calling. The app now supports video calls with up to eight people and audio calls with up to 32 people, and it also lets Mac users receive incoming call notifications even when the app is closed.
The new WhatsApp for Mac experience has been available in beta since January, and it’s no longer web-based. Meta says that the native app should provide increased reliability and speed, and it also no longer requires your phone to be online to receive notifications and messages.

“The app is redesigned to be familiar to Mac users, helping you get more done faster when using WhatsApp on a large screen. You can now share files by easily dragging and dropping into a chat, and can view more of your chat history,” Meta also said.
The new WhatsApp for Mac app is currently available to download from WhatsApp’s website. It will also be coming soon to the Mac App Store, where the previous web-based version is still available.
