Google Photos will soon roll out a new feature that makes it easy to create highlight videos from your photos and video clips on mobile.
“Create a highlight video of your favorite vacation, activity, or event in just a few taps!” the Google Photos Twitter account announced. “Simply search for what you want to feature, and Google Photos will choose the best clips & photos in your gallery, add music, and sync the video to the music to bring it all together.”

Google told me that this feature will roll out via an update to Google Photos tomorrow (October 25) on Android and iPhone. That update will add a new Create new (“+”) button at the top of the app’s main Photos view that displays a menu with “Album,” “Collage,” “Highlight video,” “Cinematic photo,” “Animation,” and “Photo books, prints & more” items.
When you select “Highlight video,” you’ll be prompted to search for people, places, activities, dates, and more, and you can add multiple criteria (like a place, a person’s name, and a date). Google Photos will then create a video based on those things using your own photos and video clips. You can then trim and rearrange the video, and change the music.
