Take Two Delays Grand Theft Auto VI to Late 2025

Take Two Interactive announced today that the eagerly awaited Grand Theft Auto VI won’t ship until late 2025, several months later than expected. As a result, the company lowered its financial forecast for the current fiscal year by over $2 billion.

“As we enter Fiscal 2025 with positive momentum, we expect to deliver Net Bookings of $5.55 to $5.65 billion,” the company revealed as part of its latest earning report; it had previously projected net bookings of over $8 billion. “Our [new] outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games’ previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI. We are highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience, and our expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to increase.”

Take Two’s fiscal year 2024 ended with a whimper: The company delivered just 1 percent growth year-over-year (YOY), with net bookings of $5.33 billion. The biggest contributors financially were NBA 2K24, Grand Theft Auto Online, Grand Theft Auto V, and Toon Blast.

Despite the disappointment, Take Two now expects to see sequential growth in net bookings in fiscal 2025, 2026, and 2027, thanks to a pipeline of 40 titles in development, 16 of which are expected to ship before the end of March 2025.

Its biggest title, of course, is Grand Theft Auto. The most recent title, Grand Theft Auto V, is now over 10 years old, but it’s sold a record 200 million units.
