Considering an Xbox Series Purchase

Hi all, I have four Xbox One (3 OG black and one S white) consoles throughout my home. I originally envisioned using them as my home entertainment backbone, and while that was fine in the early days, I’ve since pivoted to the vastly simpler Chromecast with Google TV dongle and then more or less satisfied with that.

Anyway, the Xbox Ones do continue to get daily use as gaming consoles. One has already had its power supply replaced, and another has been getting a bit flaky. So, I’ve started considering replacing one or more of them with newer Xbox Series S models. I’m starting to see fairly good deals on Facebook Marketplace for anywhere from $150-180.

Realistically, what improvements am I really going to see with the newer console models? I know they support animated home screens (cool, I guess). I know there are some newer games that are only compatible with the series S and X consoles, but my kids basically play Minecraft, Overwatch 2, and APEX Legends, all of which work fine on my current consoles. I’ve played Starfield using Game Pass Ultimate.

Should I just wait for the current consoles to completely die before I bother buying a new one?
