Threads, Meta’s alternative to Twitter/X now supports cross-posting from Facebook and Instagram. Following a period of public testing, Meta confirmed to TechCrunch that this new cross-posting feature is now available in all markets where Threads is available.
As of today, Threads is closely integrated with Instagram as you need an Instagram account to use Threads. Threads accounts also appear on linked Instagram profiles, and vice versa. When creating a new post on Instagram, users will now have the option to share it to their Threads account. It’s also possible to configure automatic sharing to Threads (in addition to Facebook) in Advanced Settings.
Facebook now has a similar option to share posts to Threads, in addition to linked Instagram accounts. Just like on Instagram, it’s also possible to enable Threads sharing automatically.
Threads recently crossed 200 million monthly active users, and Meta also recently introduced new power user features such as insights, multiple drafts, and scheduling. Threads remains the most credible alternative to Twitter/X at the moment, and it greatly benefits from the integrations with Meta’s other social platforms.
If you use Instagram and Facebook, you may also have noticed that Meta has started promoting some Threads posts on these platforms. For Threads users, blocking public posts from being suggested on Instagram and Facebook is still possible.
