The Document Foundation today announced the release of LibreOffice 24.8, the latest version of its free, open-source office productivity suite. It’s the first to natively support Windows on Arm (Arm64).
“LibreOffice is the only office suite that respects the privacy of the user – thus ensuring that the user is able to decide if and with whom to share the content they have created,” the announcement post explains. “As such, LibreOffice is the best option for the privacy-conscious office suite user, and provides a feature set comparable to the leading product on the market. It also offers a range of interface options to suit different user habits, from traditional to contemporary, and makes the most of different screen sizes by optimizing the space available on the desktop to put the maximum number of features just a click or two away.”

To that end, LibreOffice 24.8 includes a new option to remove personal information–author names and timestamps, editing duration, printer name and config, document template, and author and date for comments and tracked changes–on document save, ensuring it won’t be exported. LibreOffice 24.8 also includes many new features across its Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, and Chart apps, plus new accessibility, security, and interoperability functionality.
For example, the Writer word processing app features a new Find deck in the sidebar, new UI for common functions like character formatting, bullets, and hyperlinks, new navigator features, and hyphenation improvements that let you exclude words more easily.
