Today, Microsoft revealed the first wave of games coming to the Game Pass library in September. The headliner is Age of Mythology: Retold, the remaster of the popular RTS game originally released on PC back in 2022. The game is coming to Game Pass on day one tomorrow, September 4, but it’s preceded by Star Trucker today, which is another game coming on day one on Game Pass this month.
Age of Mythology Retold is the third game in the Age of Empires series to be released on Xbox consoles in addition to PC after Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition and Age of Empires IV. However, unlike its predecessor, the game is skipping the Xbox One generation and is only available on Xbox Series X|S.
The remaster of the classic RTS game is already available in early access for people who purchase the game’s Premium Upgrade Edition, which provides access to a new Gods pack and two upcoming expansions. On Xbox Series X|S, the game supports mouse and keyboard input in addition to the optimized controller layout, and Xbox and PC players (including those on Steam) can play together thanks to crossplay support.
On Thursday, Expeditions: A MudRunner Game will also be coming to Game Pass for Console, PC, and Cloud. It will be followed by Ubisoft’s Riders Republic on September 11, and Train Sim World 5 will wrap up this first wave of new Game Pass games on September 17. The latter is also a day-one addition to the library.
Six games will also leave Microsoft’s game subscription service on September 15: The list includes Ashes of Singularity, FIFA 23, Payday 3, Slime Rancher 2, SpiderHeck, and You Suck At Parking. As usual, Game Pass members who want to keep playing these games can purchase them with a 20% discount.
