
Sony revealed today a retro-looking PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection as it prepares to celebrate 30 years of PlayStation with a series of special events and activities. The company is also building up on the recent reveal of its PlayStation 5 Pro with a limited edition design for the new console that will be available in very limited quantities when it launches on November 21.
“Reminiscent of the very first PlayStation console to launch on December 3, 1994, this limited edition offering utilizes the original PlayStation color design and integrates it into the latest line of PS5 hardware products,” explained Hideaki Nishino, CEO, Platform Business Group at Sony Interactive Entertainment.”
The PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection will be available in two options: The first one is a PlayStation 5 Pro version with matching limited edition accessories, including a DualSense wireless controller, a more premium, DualSense Edge wireless controller, a DualSense Charging Station, and a console cover for the optional disc drive (sold separately. The bundle will also include a free vertical stand a a couple of collectors items.
Sony says that only 12,300 units of this limited edition PlayStation 5 Pro Console will be manufactured. Each of them will also feature limited edition numbers representing the month and date of the first PlayStation console launch on December 3, 1994.
For players not interested in the PS5 Pro, Sony will also offer a PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition bundle with just one DualSense controller, a console cover for the disc drive, and vertical stand, and collector’s items.
Sony also plans to make 30th Anniversary Limited Edition versions of its PlayStation Portal Remote Player and DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers available for purchase in limited quantities. Sony didn’t list any prices for these collector’s items today, but we’ll likely get more details very soon.

Sony will open pre-orders for the PS5 Slim Digital Edition – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition bundle on October 10. Pre-orders for the DualSense Limited Edition controller will open next week on September 26.

While these limited edition consoles and accessories will undoubtedly appeal to PlayStation fans and nostalgics of the first PlayStation console, Microsoft won’t have much to offer to Xbox fans this holiday season, except for an all-digital white Xbox Series X and 2TB “Galaxy Black” model priced at $599. Sony’s regular PlayStation 5 Pro, however, will be $100 more expensive at $699.
