YouTube Premium will soon become more expensive in more countries, according to multiple reports from subscribers on Reddit (via Android Police). Both individual and family plans are affected, with prices going up 50% in some affected countries.
Google previously raised the price of YouTube Premium in the US, some European countries, and other regions last year. While there’s no official announcement yet, users in Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, and Sweden are now being notified of upcoming price increases. Moreover, YouTube Premium is getting more expensive in some Asian countries including Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia, and the Middle East is also being affected.
The YouTube Premium Individual plan will go from €12/month to €14 in Belgium, Ireland, Italy, and the Netherlands, and from 16 CHF to 18 CHF in Switzerland. The YouTube Premium Family plan, however, will go from 23.90 CHF per month to 33.90 CHF in Switzerland, and from €17.99 to €25.99 in the other European countries I mentioned above.
These latest price increases will go live in November 2024. While the price bumps are quite significant, YouTube Premium also includes YouTube Music Premium, which is a solid alternative to Spotify Premium, Apple Music, and other music streaming services. And if you think ads on YouTube are already annoying, get ready to see ads when you pause videos.
