ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode Expands to All Plus and Team Users

OpenAI ChatGPT Advanced Voice Mode

OpenAI is expanding access to ChatGPT’s Advanced voice mode to all Plus and Team customers this week. Advanced voice mode leverages OpenAI’s GPT-4o model to offer more natural conversations with the AI chatbot, which can respond with emotion and react to non-verbal cues.

ChatGPT’s Advanced voice mode is also getting five new voices this week, and OpenAI said that it also “improved conversational speed, smoothness, and accents in select foreign languages.” With the added support for custom instructions, ChatGPT users can also customize how the chatbot responds to their prompts.

The full rollout of Advanced voice mode to ChatGPT Plus and Team users will happen over the coming days, and customers will see an in-app notification when the feature is available for them. Enterprise and Education customers will also start receiving access to it next week, however, Advanced voice isn’t yet available in the EU, the UK, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein.

To start a voice conversation in ChatGPT, users just need to tap the Voice icon in the bottom right corner of the app. A blue orb will show up for conversations using Advanced voice, with Standard voice conversations using a black orb instead.

OpenAI detailed in a FAQ that usage of Advanced voice mode is still limited on a daily basis. These daily limits are variable, and users will get an in-app notification when they just have 15 minutes of usage left. Once this daily limit has been reached, users can still switch to Standard Voice mode, which also has daily limits.
