Meta AI has now crossed 500 million monthly active users, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said yesterday during the company’s Q3 2024 results call with investors. Meta AI is currently integrated into Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp, and it also recently launched on the company’s Ray-Ban Meta glasses.
“Meta AI usage continues to scale as we make it available in more countries and languages,” said Meta CFO Susan Li yesterday. “We’re seeing lifts in usage as we improve our models and have introduced a number of enhancements in 6 recent months to make Meta AI more helpful and engaging.”
Meta started rolling out Meta AI in select countries last year, and it’s still not available in the EU as of today. Meta AI features are leveraging Llama 3.2, the latest version of Meta’s open-source AI models with multimodal capabilities.
Meta AI gained voice support last month, though this is currently only available in English-speaking users in the US, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. Meta AI also now lets users in the US upload photos to edit them, learn more about what’s in them, and more.
Mark Zuckerberg also announced yesterday that there are now more than 3.2 billion people using at least one of Meta’s apps on a daily basis. Threads, Meta’s Twitter/X clone also continues to grow very fast as it now has almost 275 million monthly active users and more than 1 million sign-ups per day. “We continue to be on track towards this becoming our next major social app,” Zuckerberg said yesterday.
