OpenAI is kicking off its 12 days of announcements with ChatGPT Pro, a new $200/month subscription for researchers, engineers, and other enthusiasts interested in getting priority access to the company’s cutting-edge AI models. At launch, ChatGPT Pro offers unlimited access to OpenAI o1, o1-mini, GPT-4o, and Advanced Voice, plus a new o1 pro mode with even more capabilities.
“In evaluations from external expert testers, o1 pro mode produces more reliably accurate and comprehensive responses, especially in areas like data science, programming, and case law analysis,” OpenAI said today. “Compared to both o1 and o1-preview, o1 pro mode performs better on challenging ML benchmarks across math, science, and coding.”
ChatGPT Pro subscribers will be able to select this new o1 pro mode in the model picker when asking a question to the chatbot. However, to provide more reliable responses, OpenAI’s most intelligent model will take a bit more time to respond to queries.
OpenAI said today that it’s planning to add more capabilities to this new ChatGPT Pro plan in the future. “We’ll also continue to bring many of these new capabilities to our other subscribers,” the company said.
There are a couple of other interesting updates today for ChatGPT users: The OpenAI o1 model is now out of preview in ChatGPT, and it’s now smarter and faster. “Our testing shows that o1 outperforms o1-preview, reducing major errors on difficult real-world questions by 34%,” the company said on X.
OpenAI o1 is replacing o1-preview in the model selector for ChatGPT Plus and Team users today, and this model is also adding support for image uploads. Enterprise and Edu users will get access to it in one week. “We’re still working on adding support for tools like web browsing and file upload into OpenAI o1 in ChatGPT,” the company said today.
