Google is improving its Gemini assistant with its new Gemini 2.0. Flash model, which is now out of preview. Gemini 2.0 Flash is rolling out now on the web and mobile, but users of Google’s chatbot will still be able to use the older Gemini 1.5 Flash and 1.5 Pro models for the next few weeks.
Google’s Gemini 2.0 Flash launched as an experimental model last month, and it supports multimodal input and output. Speaking about its new model, Google said that it “delivers fast responses and stronger performance across a number of key benchmarks, providing everyday help with tasks like brainstorming, learning or writing.”
The chatbot’s image generation capabilities are also being updated with the latest version of Google’s Imagen 3 text-to-image model. “This state-of-the-art model delivers richer details and textures, and follows your instructions with greater accuracy to help bring your creative vision to life,” the company said.
While Google now offers free access to its latest 2.0 Flash model, Microsoft also updated the consumer version of its Copilot assistant this week by expanding access to “Think Deeper.” This feature leverages OpenAI’s more powerful o1 reasoning model to provide better answers to complex questions, and Copilot users can now use it for free on the web and mobile.
