M4v won’t play on Snapdragon Surface Pro

I’ve got a bunch of m4v files that play just fine on my LG Gram using Media Player. They also play fine on my Samsung Chromebook and M4 Macbook Air using the native players or VLC. However the won’t play on my Snapdragon Elite Surface Pro using Media Player or VLC. This is the first “problem” that I’ve encountered with the Snapdragon laptop.
