Proton Pass Updated as Proton Issues New Product Roadmaps

Proton Pass now allows paid customers to save files with the items in their vaults

Proton Pass now allows paid customers to save files with the items in their vaults, and more new features are on the way.

“Keeping track of essential documents is easier when everything is in one secure location,” Proton noted in a post about its Proton Pass roadmap for spring 2025. “File attachments will be our first release of the spring, and it will allow you to attach multiple files (up to 100 MB) directly to any item in your vault. Store tax documents with the login to your government portal or keep backups of important documents like your passport, IDs, and other licenses — with secure file attachments, you can keep your information exactly where you need it.”

That update is now available, Proton tells me. But there’s more coming soon:

  • Emergency access. You’ll be able to grant emergency access to Proton Pass to a family member or friend in the event that you’re not able to access it.
  • Custom items. Proton Pass will soon support licenses, passports, Wi-Fi credentials, ATM PINs, and other custom items that don’t use the standard username/password format.
  • Single click/tap credit card autofill. Proton Pass will soon make it easier to access payment methods by autofilling credit card details, logins, 2FA codes, and other information with a single click/tap.
  • Autofill on desktop. Proton Pass will soon populate your information in fields from any desktop app without copying and pasting.
  • Biometric unlock with web app. You’ll soon be able to sign in to the Proton Pass web app using your device’s biometric capabilities. This is coming to the Proton Pass browser extension later in 2025, too.

On that Note, Proton also recently released Spring 2025 roadmaps for its other products, too. Some key updates include:

  • Proton VPN. Split-tunneling on Mac and Linux, custom DNS on iPhone and Mac.
  • Proton Mail. Category view, Attachments view. Subscription management. New Android and iOS apps with offline support, advanced search, and more.
  • Proton Calendar. Shared calendar edit access and compact home screen widget on iPad. Tasks, search capabilities, and offline access on iOS and Android.
  • Proton Drive. New Albums feature for securely storing, organizing, and sharing photos. Desktop and Documents folder sync on Mac.
  • Proton Docs. A new home screen, comment-only access, find and replace, and new formatting options.
