Xbox Consoles Add ‘Stream Your Own Game’ Support

Xbox consoles stream your own game

Xbox Cloud Gaming on Xbox consoles is getting better today with the addition of the ‘Stream your own game’ library. This new cloud gaming feature already lets Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members play select Xbox games they own (on top of cloud-enabled games in the Xbox Game Pass library) on the web as well as Samsung Smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV devices, and Meta Quest headsets.

As of today, the Stream your own game library includes over 100 cloud-enabled Xbox games that aren’t available on Game Pass, with more titles being added every month. Recent additions include Assassin’s Creed Shadows, LEGO Marvel Superheroes, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 2, and Subnautica 2. The Xbox team also announced today 19 upcoming additions to this list, including Predator: Hunting Grounds, Starship Troopers: Extermination, and Steep.

On Xbox consoles, cloud-playable games will display a cloud badge on the game page. To start streaming these cloud-enabled games without installing them, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members will just need to select them and then choose “Play with Cloud Gaming.”

In addition to these Xbox Cloud Gaming improvements, the Xbox April Update that will be released later today will also mark the rollout of new game hubs to a subset of players. These game hubs will appear whenever a player selects a game from their recently played games or installed games lists, and they will highlight player stats, achievements, friends currently playing the game, recent captures, and more.

Launching the game from these game hubs will require players to hit the play button, which will be highlighted by default. However, players who find these new game hubs to be distracting will be able to disable them by going to My games & apps > Manage > Games & apps.

Lastly, today’s Xbox update improves the Free up space feature with new recommendations for removing duplicate copies of games and games that players no longer have access to. For mobile users, the Xbox team also announced that the Xbox app for iOS and Android will soon let them purchase games and Game Pass subscriptions right from their phones.
