The Acer Chromebook Plus 516 offers an expansive 16-inch display, Intel Core processors, and free Google One AI Premium for just $480 and up.
“The Acer Chromebook Plus 516 is a Chromebook Plus laptop with Google AI built in,” the Acer website explains. “Featuring an Intel Core processor and 16-inch WUXGA display, it’s built for smarter, faster productivity. Durable and always connected, it’s ready for anything.”
The Chromebook Plus 516 is now available in the U.S. But it first launched two weeks ago in Europe and, to be clear, this is separate from the Chromebook Plus 516 GE that’s been available for a few years and is optimized for cloud gaming. This all-new Chromebook Plus 516 features up to an Intel Core i7 processor, a 300-nit 16-inch Full HD+ (1920 x 1200) display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, up to Wi-Fi 7, dual USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, dual USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, a full-sized HDMI 1.4 port, and dual speakers with DTS audio.
And as with other Chromebook Plus devices, you get Google One AI Premium for one year for free, a $240 value that gives you Gemini Advanced with Gemini in Gmail, Docs, and more, plus 2 TB of Google Drive storage.
The first model is now available from Best Buy for $480. This version is in steel gray and it comes with a 13th-generation Intel Core i3-1315U processor, 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 128 GB of UFS storage, and Wi-Fi 6E. It weighs 3.75 pounds and is rated for 12.5 hours of battery life.
