Microsoft’s Xbox app is now available on select LG smart TV models. The cloud gaming app was already available on recent Samsung smart TVs and monitors and Amazon Fire TV devices, but it’s now coming to LG TVs as well.
“This rollout includes 2022 OLED TVs, select 2023 LG Smart TVs, and newer models, along with smart monitors running webOS 24 or later versions. It will soon expand to StanbyME screen,” the Xbox team said today.
The Xbox app can be downloaded from the new LG Gaming portal, where Nvidia’s GeForce Now app is also available. With an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, users can access hundreds of cloud-enabled Xbox games from the Game Pass library, plus select games they own.
Microsoft is committed to making Xbox games available in more places, and bringing the Xbox app to more smart TVs should really help with that. In addition to Bluetooth-enabled Xbox controllers, Sony’s PlayStation DualSense and DualShock 4 controllers are also supported on eligible LG smart TVs.
If you don’t have an Xbox console or a supported smart TV, Xbox Cloud Gaming is also available via the web on mobile devices, Macs, and PCs. You can even try the cloud gaming service for free with Fortnite, which doesn’t require an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription to be played (with a limit of 60 minutes per session).
