Returning a laptop: data erasure best practice?

HP has agreed to me returning a new laptop for replacement as it has had some issues.

It has W11 Pro with BitLocker enabled.

What’s the best practice to erase my data before I return it?

I was thinking I should do Reset this PC?

What should I do about BitLocker – leave it on before I do Reset this PC or do I need to either Suspend BitLocker before the Reset or turn BitLocker off?

Should I return the laptop to HP with BitLocker enabled?

They told me they will do a factory reset when they receive it, but I want to make sure all my data is gone before that.

Sorry if the questions are a bit basic – I’m a home user.
