Microsoft 365 is Getting a Calendar Companion App for Windows 11 Too

Microsoft 365 Companion apps

Back in March, Microsoft announced the first two Microsoft 365 companion apps, File Search and People. Now, there’s a third companion app coming soon, Calendar.

“Microsoft 365 companions is a suite of apps designed to enhance productivity and save users time within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem,” the Microsoft Support website explains. “These companions streamline workflows, improve communication, and provide easy access to files and colleagues directly from the Windows 11 taskbar. The suite currently includes two apps, People and File Search.”

Actually, there are three. That same document notes the addition of a Calendar companion app that “lets users quickly view their Microsoft 365 calendar directly from the Windows taskbar, eliminating the need to switch between apps and lose context. [It lets you] view upcoming events, join meetings, and search for appointments to stay on top of your schedule.”

According to Microsoft, key features include:

  • Search for your Teams messages by meeting organizer, attendees, or title.
  • Join meetings directly from the calendar view.
  • Toggle between day or agenda view to see your calendar.
  • Search for meetings and take quick actions like editing, chatting with participants, or copying the meeting link.
  • Select a meeting to see its details in calendar view.

All three Microsoft 365 companion apps are currently in beta and available only to admins who have opted in for their organization. Mobile versions of these apps are coming soon, too.
