Adobe Brings Photoshop to Android in Beta

Over three months after it launched Photoshop on the iPhone, Adobe today delivered an initial beta of the app for Android too.

“Starting today, the Adobe Photoshop (beta) app is available for download for free on Google Play on Android devices,” the announcement post explains. “We’re excited to bring Photoshop to Android to empower more mobile creators to bring their ideas to life with creative freedom, anytime and anywhere.”

As with the iPhone version of the app, Photoshop for Android is designed for creators who wish to get work done on their phones. It includes expected core Photoshop image editing and design features like selections, layers, masks, Tap Select, Spot Healing Brush, Object Select, Magic Wand, Remove, and Clone Stamp, Firefly-powered Generative Fill capabilities, and access to the assets in Adobe Stock.

Unlike the iPhone version of the app, Photoshop for Android is free “during the initial beta period,” and Adobe says that more features are coming soon. It doesn’t say this, but it’s safe to assume that Photoshop for Android will be provided to customers who subscribe to the Photoshop Mobile & Web plan (which costs $7.99 per month) in addition to higher-end Adobe Creative Cloud plans.

Adobe Photoshop (Beta) is available for download now in the Google Play Store.
