Windows App – When will it replace Remote Desktop

For my job, I use a lot of remote Windows systems. I used to use Remote Desktop Connection (it was all we had), but it’s primitive, makes you manually pick a screen resolution that is then fixed, doesn’t handle large numbers of systems well, etc.

This changed when the Remote Desktop application came out. It easily manages a large number of systems, provides resizable Windows without scrollbars, etc. It works great.

Then Microsoft decided to ditch Remote Desktop and “replace” it with the Windows App (horrible name, BTW, but what’s new?). The new app doesn’t do remote desktop “yet”.

Any word on when this app will be functional for remote desktop use? I haven’t heard anything for a while. Are there any third-party alternatives?
