Netflix is reportedly exploring the creation of new live programming content in partnership with Spotify. The Wall Street Journal reports that the two companies have been discussing various projects, including music shows and celebrity interviews, to give Netflix subscribers more live content to watch.
“The streamer has held conversations with Spotify about partnering on a number of projects such as a music awards show or a live concert series, people close to the conversations said. It has also discussed doing big celebrity interviews and shorter-turnaround documentaries to capture the news of the moment,” some of the people told the WSJ.
Netflix has been dabbling with live programming content for quite some time. Earlier this year, the company started airing WWE Raw weekly on Monday nights, and the Mike Tyson–Jake Paul fight last fall attracted a big audience. Despite some technical issues, the company claimed that this was the most-streamed sporting event in history with over 108 million viewers.
In February, Netflix also streamed the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards 2025 ceremony, and it followed up with a new weekly talk show, Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney in March. Last month, Netflix also announced a landmark deal with French TV group TF1 to distribute the company’s live channels and on-demand content on its platform.
