Sony Brings Helldivers 2 to Xbox Series X|S

For the first time, Sony is bringing a PlayStation-exclusive game to Microsoft’s Xbox videogame consoles. Helldivers 2 is made by Arrowhead Game Studios, but it’s published by Sony and was previously released on PlayStation 5 and Windows PCs. But Xbox Series X|S owners can now preorder the game for their consoles, with an expected release date of August 26. And it will support cross-play across all three platforms.

“We know gamers have been asking for this for some time and we are so excited to bring more Helldivers into our game,” Arrowhead game director Mikael Eriksson. “We have so much more in store for the future months and years – and the more players we have, the more stories we can tell! The fight for Super Earth has only just begun.”

Helldivers 2 is a cooperative, third-person multiplayer-only shooter with a science fiction theme and is widely regarded as one of the best videogames of 2024. Players work together in teams of four to “complete operations, liberate planets, and spread Managed Democracy to the furthest reaches of the galaxy.”

Helldivers 2 is available in two editions, Standard and Super Citizen Edition, which cost $39.99 and $59.99, respectively. Both versions come with preorder bonus content if you jump in ahead of August 26, and the Super Citizen Edition adds additional content entitlement and a Warbond Token.
