Nvidia is planning to upgrade its GeForce Now cloud gaming service with RTX 5080 GPUs. The new servers will start rolling out to GeForce Now Ultimate subscribers in September, enabling DLSS 4 multi-frame generation for select games and streaming at up to 5K resolution and 120 FPS. The update will also benefit the GeForce Now app on the Steam Deck and macOS.

“With the introduction of GeForce RTX 5080-class GPUs, the GeForce NOW Ultimate membership tier will deliver a stunning 62 teraflops of compute performance and a massive 48GB frame buffer, which enables AI-enhanced gaming experiences and prepares the platform for the future of AI in gaming,” the company announced yesterday. “The latest GPU architecture offers up to 2.8x faster frame rates compared with previous-generation servers and outpaces the PlayStation 5 Pro by more than 3x. Enhanced by the latest AMD “Zen 5” CPUs and NVIDIA ConnectX®-7 SmartNICs, GeForce NOW features the most advanced hardware in cloud gaming.”

The GeForce RTX 5080 upgrade for Nvidia’s GeForce Now service will also add support for up to 360 FPS gameplay at 1080p. A new Cinematic-Quality Streaming (CQS) mode is also coming to “significantly improve image quality.” On the Steam Deck, the GeForce Now app will be able to stream games at up to 90 FPS, while the Mac client will also benefit from all the features of the new GeForce RTX 5080-powered servers.

Nvidia won’t be raising the price of its GeForce Now Ultimate tier, which will remain at $19.99 per month or $99.99 for six months. The GeForce Now library will also welcome upcoming AAA games such as Borderlands 4, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, and The Outer Worlds 2, with a total of more than 2,300 games that publishers have enabled for cloud streaming.

The company also announced the launch of Install-to-Play, which will enable the installation of more than 2,200 Steam games to a 100GB cloud partition. “Install-to-Play games saved in persistent storage will remain ready to launch without the need to download and reinstall for every session,” the company explained.

Lastly, Nvidia has teamed up with Epic Games and Discord to make a limited-time trial of a GeForce Now Performance experience available via the social app. At launch, Discord users will be able to access Fortnite via GeForce Now, with no membership required. The three companies hope to make it really easy for the hundreds of millions of Discord users to try new games.
