Gears of War: Reloaded and Dragon Age: The Veilguard are the next two big games coming to the Game Pass library. The first one is a remaster of the original Gears of War game released on the Xbox 360 back in 2006, and the second one is the latest game in BioWare’s popular Dragon Age RPG franchise.
The Gears of War series has been dormant since the release of Gears 5 and Gears Tactics in 2019 and 2020, respectively. While Gears of War already received the remaster treatment in the form of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition back in 2015, Gears of War: Reloaded will support cross-play multiplayer, cross-progression, and 4K gameplay at up to 120 FPS. Gears of War: Reloaded will be available on Game Pass on day one on August 26, and it’s also been offered as a free upgrade for players who purchased the digital version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition before May 5, 2025.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be coming to the Game Pass library via EA Play on August 28. While Inquisition, the previous game in the series, won multiple Game of the Year awards following its release in 2014, The Veilguard had a complicated development cycle and received a polarized reception last year. Its arrival on game subscription services may still help it reach a bigger audience after it failed to meet EA’s sales target.
The second wave of new Game Pass games for August also includes the roguelite FPS Void/Breaker, the JRPG Persona 4 Golden, and the adventure/puzzle game Herdling. The medieval crafting game Blacksmith Master is also coming to the Game Pass library today via the Game Preview program.

Lastly, five games will leave the Game Pass library at the end of the month. The departing titles include Ben 10 Power Trip, Borderlands 3, Sea of Stars, This War of Mine: Final Cut, and Paw Patrol Mighty Pups Save Adventure Bay. As usual, Game Pass subscribers can purchase these games with a 20% discount before they leave the service.
