Google Expands AI Mode in Search to Over 180 New Countries

Google AI Mode in Search

Google is expanding its new AI Mode in Search to 180 new countries and territories in English today. The new AI search experience, which previously debuted in the US, the UK, and India, is also getting new agentic capabilities, personalized recommendations, and sharing features.

AI Mode is still an experimental feature that uses Google’s Gemini 2.5 model to answer complex questions. It’s available in a separate tab in Google Search, and users can interact with it by typing, talking, taking a photo, or uploading an image. Answers include links to external resources, and Google AI subscribers can also access Deep Research in AI Mode to get their answers in the form of a professional-looking report with sources.

The new agentic capabilities in AI Mode are rolling out now to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the US. The first experience Google highlighted is the ability to find restaurant reservations with multiple constraints and preferences. While AI Mode will be able to provide a curated list of restaurants that meet the formulated criteria.

Google has teamed up with various partners including OpenTable, Resy, Tock, Ticketmaster, StubHub, SeatGeek, and Booksy to enable this new experience, but users will still need to book the reservation themselves after AI Mode surfaces the booking page. Google said that it’s working to expand these agentic capabilities to local service appointments and event tickets.

US users will also start seeing personalized recommendations when using AI Mode, starting with restaurants and cafes. Using previous conversations, AI Mode will be able to suggest locations users have previously searched or recommend specific food types based on the preferences users previously expressed. “You’re in control of what context you share with Google and can adjust your personalization settings in your Google Account at any time,” Google emphasized.

Lastly, US users can now share results they get from AI mode with others. Shared links can be deleted at any time, and users who receive them can also ask follow-up questions to Google.
