The latest version of Firefox for iPhone is getting a Summarize Page feature that uses Apple Intelligence. It works locally if you’re running iOS 26, which presumably arrives in stable today, given the pending Apple “Awe Dropping” event.
For some reason, Mozilla is promoting this feature as “Shake to Summarize,” though that’s only one of three ways in which you can access Summarize Page.
“On mobile, browsing often means quick checks on small screens, squeezed in between everything else you’re doing,” the Firefox blog explains. “We built Shake to Summarize on iOS to give you a clear summary with one move. That way, you can get what you need more easily and keep going.”
Shake to Summarize is just one way that today’s Firefox for iPhone release will provide an AI-based summary of the current webpage: You can also tap a new Summarize Page (lightning bolt) icon in the app’s toolbar. Or, open the Firefox menu and choose Summarize Page.
Summarize Page works with webpages with fewer than 5,000 words, Mozilla says. And if you’re using an older iOS version, it will use Mozilla’s cloud-based AI instead of Apple Intelligence.
The latest version of Firefox for iPhone arrives later today. Summarize Page will be made available first in the U.S. in English, but Mozilla says it will “expand from there.” Note that you can disable this feature as well.
You can download Firefox for iPhone from the Apple App Store.
