Google Gemini is Now Available in Google Chrome for US Users

Google Gemini in Chrome

The Gemini AI integration in Google Chrome that was previously announced at Google’s I/O 2025 conference is now rolling out to all US users. Until now, Gemini in Chrome required a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription, but it’s now available for Mac and Windows desktop users.

“The browser is no longer just a window to the web; it’s an intelligent partner that learns and adapts to your needs. This next era of Chrome is all about making the web even more helpful, more secure, and more intuitive,” wrote VP of Chrome Parisa Tabriz.

Gemini in Chrome can quickly summarize any web page as well as information across multiple websites. When browsing Google apps like Calendar, YouTube, and Maps, Gemini can also be used to schedule meetings, find a specific moment in a video, and more.

Later this month, Google’s experimental AI Mode will also become integrated into the browser’s omnibox. This will let users ask complex questions right from the address bar and carry on with follow-up questions if necessary. When asking questions about the current page from the omnibox, Chrome will also be able to display an AI overview in a side panel to suggest follow-up questions to ask in AI Mode.

“For example, if you’re shopping for a mattress, the omnibox might suggest follow-ups searches like “what’s the warranty policy?” This makes getting information from the Chrome omnibox simpler than ever before, helping you navigate the web with the best of Google AI by your side,” Tabriz explained.

Soon, Chrome users will also be able to find webpages they previously visited using natural language prompts. In the coming months, the browser will also become more “agentic” and capable of performing online tasks such as ordering groceries or booking an appointment.

Gemini in Chrome will soon become available for iOS and Android users in the US, Google said today. Google Workspace users will also get access to it in the coming weeks with enterprise-grade data protections and controls.
