AI Mode in Google Search is Now Available in Over 200 Countries and 35 New Languages

Google Search AI MOde

Google announced yesterday a major expansion of its new AI Mode in Google Search, which is now available in over 40 new markets, including many European countries. Overall, the new AI-powered search experience is now accessible in over 200 countries, and it’s also adding support for over 35 new languages.

“Our latest Gemini models are powering dramatically more powerful capabilities in Search, allowing people to ask anything on their mind in the way that’s most natural to them, thanks to our natural language understanding and multimodal capabilities. Now, more people can ask anything in their preferred language,” Google said yesterday.

You can find the full list of supported countries, territories, and languages for AI mode on this page. In Europe, AI Mode is now available in Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Ireland, the UK, and Belgium, but people in France will still have to wait. However, French is one of the new supported languages alongside Italian, German, Dutch, Polish, and Greek.

Speaking about the absence of AI Mode and AI Overviews in France, Nick Fox, SVP, Knowledge & Information at Google posted the following message on X today. “We hope to resolve regulatory uncertainty in France that has made it much harder to launch features like AI Overviews and AI Mode. We love France and want to bring our AI features there  but it’s not yet clear when that will be possible – stay tuned!”

Google said that this new AI Mode in Google Search will be rolling out to more people over the next week. The company believes that AI mode is its most powerful search experience, providing more detailed answers than AI Overviews in search results thanks to the ability to go deeper through follow-up questions and web links.

Update 8:20 AM ET: I added the message from Nick Fox, SVP, Knowledge & Information at Google, explaining why AI Mode and AI Overviews were still not available in France.
