Google Announces Veo 3.1 and New Flow Capabilities

Google’s latest Veo 3.1 video generation model delivers richer audio, more narrative control, and enhanced realism. And you can access its capabilities in Google Flow along with new capabilities in the AI filmmaking tool.

“Five months ago, we introduced Flow, our AI filmmaking tool powered by Veo, and have been inspired by the creativity it has sparked with over 275 million videos generated in Flow,” Google’s Jess Gallegos and Thomas Iljic write in the announcement post. “Today, we’re introducing new and enhanced creative capabilities to edit your clips, giving you more granular control over your final scene. For the first time, we’re also bringing audio to existing capabilities like ‘Ingredients to Video,’ ‘Frames to Video,’ and ‘Extend’.”

Here’s what’s new.

Veo 3.1 is now available, bringing richer audio, more narrative control, and enhanced realism that captures true-to-life textures to Google’s state-of-the-art video generation model. It also offers stronger prompt adherence and improved audiovisual quality when turning images into videos, Google says.

And with Veo 3.1 in Flow, you can now use Ingredients to Video to control the characters, objects, and style of a creation with multiple reference images, use Frames to Video to generate seamless videos with starting and ending images, access a new Extend feature to create longer videos, and, soon, add new elements to a scene with Insert, and remove unwanted elements or characters seamlessly.

“With more precise editing capabilities, audio across all existing features, and higher-quality outputs powered by Veo 3.1, we’re opening up new possibilities for richer, more powerful video storytelling right inside Flow,” Google adds.
