Sony announced yesterday a new 27-inch Gaming Monitor with a DualSense Charging Hook that will be released exclusively in the US and Japan in 2026. The new monitor is designed for PlayStation players who prefer to play games while sitting at a desk, and it will offer a QHD (2560 x 1440) panel with a 240Hz refresh rate and HDR and VRR support.
Sony said that this first PlayStation-branded monitor will pair nicely with its upcoming Pulse Elevate Wireless Speakers, which will also be released in 2026. “Both products were designed with the PS5 desktop gaming experience in mind, offering a high-quality visual and audio desktop experience for those who want the option of playing in personal spaces,” the company said.
As Sony’s PlayStation 5 only supports a maximum 120Hz refresh rate, players will need a PC or Mac to take advantage of the maximum 240Hz refresh rate. The new PlayStation gaming monitor will offer two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 port, two USB Type-A ports, and one USB Type-C port that can be used with PlayStation Link Adapters or other devices. Lastly, the monitor will feature built-in spereo speakers, a 3.5mm audio jack, and it will support VESA mounting systems.
In addition to this new PlayStation gaming monitor, Sony also announced yesterday a more affordable PlayStation 5 Digital Edition that will be exclusively available in Japan. It will be priced at ¥55,000 (approximately $355), and it mirrors the Japan-only Nintendo Switch 2 that’s also cheaper (¥49,980, approximately $325) than the regular model for international markets.
