YouTube TV to Launch Cheaper, Genre-Specific Plans in 2026

Google is planning to revamp its YouTube TV streaming service next year with over 10 cheaper, genre-specific plans. YouTube TV Sports is one of over 10 new packages that the team announced today, though pricing details are currently unknown.

“TV should be easy, giving viewers greater control over what they want to watch. Our goal is to let you tailor your subscription with more options,” said Christian Oestlien, VP and Head of Subscriptions at YouTube. “Whether you stick with our main YouTube TV plan with 100+ channels, focus on sports, combine sports and news, or select a plan centered on family and entertainment content, subscribers will be able to easily choose the plan that works best for them.”

Following multiple price increases over the years, YouTube TV is currently priced at $82.99/month in the US, which is quite expensive for people who’ll never watch the 100+ channels on the service. The new Sports plan will provide access to “all the major broadcasters as well as sports networks like FS1, NBC Sports Network, all of the ESPN networks, as well as ESPN Unlimited,” Oestlien said, and subscribers will also be able to pay for add-ons such as NFL Sunday Ticket and RedZone.

The YouTube TV Sports plan will also include unlimited DVR, multiview, key plays, and fantasy view. We can presume that unlimited DVR and multiview will also be available on other plans, though we’ll have to wait next year for more details.

YouTube TV used to be a great value when it launched at just $34.99/month in 2017, but all streaming services have become more expensive in recent years. Hopefully, these new genre-specific plans will help to make the service more attractive and affordable for US consumers.
