OpenAI Rolls Out New ChatGPT Images

OpenAI has issued a major update to ChatGPT image generation that’s powered by its latest flagship image generation model. The company says that it can generate images at up to four times the speed of the previous version.

“Now, whether you’re creating something from scratch or editing a photo, you’ll get the output you’re picturing,” OpenAI explains in the announcement post. “It makes precise edits while keeping details intact, and generates images up to 4x faster. Alongside, we’re introducing a new Images feature within ChatGPT, designed to make image generation delightful—to spark inspiration and make creative exploration effortless.”

According to OpenAI, this update transforms ChatGPT into a creative studio, as it can preserve details like lighting, composition, and people’s appearance while transforming images with more useful photo edits, stylistic filters, more believable clothing and hair styles to try on, and more. And the new model it uses excels at adding, subtracting, combining, blending, and transposing edits.

With this update, ChatGPT now features a new Images space that’s accessible via a top-level item in the menu in the mobile app and on the web. It features dozens of premade prompts and filters to help get you started. And OpenAI says it will update those regularly to reflect emerging trends.

The new Images feature and GPT Image 1.5 are available now for all ChatGPT users, OpenAI says.
