Adobe has issued a major update to its flagship Photoshop desktop app, adding new non-destructive layer editing, dynamic text, Firefly upgrades, and other new features.
“Today we are introducing innovations across Photoshop that are designed to reduce tedious tasks, elevate your work, and help you exercise more precision and control, so you can maintain your creative momentum and spend more time bringing your creative vision to life,” Adobe’s Pam Clark writes. “We are seeing incredible engagement and adoption of AI-powered tools in Photoshop and are thrilled to bring creative professionals these latest innovations to help you explore your amazing ideas.”
Here’s what’s new in Photoshop for desktop.
New Clarity and Dehaze, and Grain, adjustment layers. Adobe has added two non-destructive adjustment layers, Clarity and Dehaze, and Grain, to Photoshop that cut through atmospheric haze, balance lighting, and enhance subject structure and crispness, respectively.
Dynamic Text (beta). Dynamic Text makes it easier to transform any text layer into circular, arched, or bowed shapes.
Firefly-powered Generative Fill, Generative Expand and Remove Tool upgrades. These Firefly-powered tools now deliver higher quality results with 2K resolution output, sharper detail, and fewer artifacts.
Reference Image for Generative Fill. This tool is likewise getting a major upgrade with geometry-aware results that better match the scene, reorienting to the correct scale, rotation, lighting, color and perspective.
These features are all available in Photoshop for desktop now and the Firefly-powered updates to Generative Fill, Generative Expand, and the Remove tool are coming to Photoshop on the web soon, Adobe says.
