The Xbox April Update is Here

The Xbox April Update includes improvements for Xbox consoles, PCs, Xbox Ally gaming handhelds, and more.

“We’re continuing to give you more control in your gaming experience, bringing you more customization options across console, PC, and more,” Xbox senior product marketing manager Dean Shimabukuro writes. “We’re also bringing updates for notifications to the Xbox Mobile app, rolling out Auto SR in preview for Xbox Insiders on the ROG Xbox Ally X, and introducing a sweepstakes through Rewards with Xbox.”

Here’s what’s new.

Xbox consoles

On Xbox Series X and S, you can now add up to 10 groups to Home (up from two) with simpler group management, specify a custom (accent) color, configure Quick Resume on a game-by-game basis, access a major Play History experience update, and determine whether the console displays a network quality indicator and stream statistics overlay.

PC

With the Xbox app on Windows 11, you can now manually add any game or app to your Xbox library and customize the names, icons, and launch options of each; pin favorite games to the Home view; turn your mouse into a gamepad with a new Gamepad cursor; and reposition notifications on the Game Bar.

Mobile

The Xbox app on Android, iPhone, and iPad now supports wishlist alerts.

Xbox Ally gaming handhelds

You can now manually add any game or app to your Xbox library and customize the names, icons, and launch options of each; access that new Gamepad cursor noted above; and enjoy super-wideband stereo voice with headsets that support LE Audio and Enhanced Vibration. And those in the Xbox Insider Program can test Auto Super Resolution (Auto SR) in docked mode when playing on an external TV or display. You can learn more about these updates here.

Rewards with Xbox

Now through May 21, you can enter the Microsoft Rewards Total Prize Drop for a chance to win $1,000,000 (in U.S. dollars), a Mercedes-Benz, Xbox Gift Cards, or thousands of instant prizes.
