GTA VI Gets a $79.99 Price Tag, Physical Version to Include a Download Code

GTA VI

Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S are set to kick at midnight on June 25, and the game finally has a price tag: The standard edition of GTA VI is priced at $79.99, and there’s also a $99.99 Ultimate Edition with premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and more to unlock throughout the story.

All players who pre-order the game before November 20 will also get the Vintage Vice City Pack, which includes “items that flash back to when the neon burned brightest.” Rockstar Games also confirmed that the physical version of GTA VI will include a download code and no disc, probably to prevent any leak ahead of the game’s global release on November 19.

With no physical disc, there’s really no incentive to buy the physical edition of GTA VI. However, gamers who pre-order digital versions of the game will get a free month of GTA+, Rockstar Games’ subscription service that provides access to exclusive perks on GTA Online and a rotating selection of classic Rockstar Games titles.

It’s also now official that GTA VI will be a single-player game, and there’s no word yet on a new version of the popular GTA Online multiplayer experience that turned GTA V into one of the best-selling games of all time. However, you can bet that Rockstar Games is hard at work on an online component for GTA VI.

In a separate post on the PlayStation blog, Sony, which has a marketing deal with Rockstar Games for GTA VI, also explained that the game will “play best on PS5” by taking advantage of the console’s DualSense controller, Tempest 3D AudioTech, and faster SSD.

“The controller’s haptic feedback offers responsive vibrations, while its adaptive triggers provide dynamic resistance. The controller’s integrated speaker also adds another dimension to key moments and interactions, with sound effects from the controller enhanced by haptic feedback.

With Tempest 3D AudioTech, you can surround yourself in the distinct soundscapes of Leonida. From the streets of Vice City to the moments that unfold all across the state, this highly accurate audio positioning enhances your perception, helping to bring this world to life around you in unmatched ways. Grand Theft Auto VI also leverages the PS5’s ultra-high speed SSD, enabling you to experience the expansive world of Leonida with near-instant load times.”

The release of GTA VI should significantly boost PlayStation 5 sales during the holiday season, especially as Microsoft lacks the capacity to manufacture enough Xbox Series X|S consoles due to the AI-fueled memory crisis. Sony saying that players will have the best experience on its consoles is also a big selling point for the PlayStation 5 and the more powerful PlayStation 5 Pro.
