Apple Releases iOS 26.5.2 and macOS 26.5.2

iPhone iPad Mac

Apple has just released iOS 26.5.2, iPadOS 26.5.2, and macOS 26.5.2 to fix various security vulnerabilities on the three platforms. The update follows the release of iOS 26.5.1. and macOS 26.5.1 earlier this month, though the former was only available on the iPhone Air and iPhone 17 models.

Today’s updates include 19 fixes for WebKit vulnerabilities. This is more of a problem on iOS and iPadOS, where all web browsers have to use Apple’s WebKit browser engine. In the EU, the Digital Markets Act did allow other browser makers to use alternative browser engines on iOS and iPadOS, but to my knowledge, that has yet to happen.

Apple said that today’s updates bring security fixes that were first made available in the iOS 26.6, iPadOS 26.6, and macOS 26.6 betas. A third round of betas for these updates has also been released today.

So far, the only new features on iOS 26.6 include a change to the maximum number of contacts you can block on iOS, as well as a new anti-theft feature. We probably shouldn’t expect more than that ahead of the release of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 later this fall.
