Two months after the release of the latest Surface for Business PCs with Intel processors, and one month after the release of the latest Surface PCs for individuals with Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 processors, Surface for Business is getting refreshed with the superior latter choices.
“Today, we’re extending [our] momentum with commercial availability of Surface Pro for Business 13-inch and Surface Laptop for Business 13.8 and 15-inch powered by Snapdragon X2 Series processors, bringing these capabilities to organizations modernizing endpoints for AI, mobility, and security,” Microsoft’s Chauncey Larsen writes. “From enterprises to small businesses, customers will benefit from the improved graphics, expanded memory, and modern AI, all with the impressive all-day battery life people have come to expect from Snapdragon-powered Surface devices.”
There are some new features. Select 13.8-inch Surface Laptop models get a new privacy screen with one-touch activation. There’s a refined haptic touchpad across supported models. And the webcams feature AI noise reduction, dynamic tuning, and dynamic lighting adaptation. But as per all new PC releases this year, but especially Surface, the most notable thing about the new Surface Laptop for Business and Surface Pro for Business PCs is that they are quite a bit more expensive than in previous years.
Surface Laptop for Business is available in 13.8- and 15-inch configurations. The former starts at $1650 for a 10-core Snapdragon X2 Plus configuration with 16 GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD, and the most expensive version is a 12-core Snapdragon X2 Elite configuration with 64 GB of RAM and 1 TB of SSD storage for $2800. If you move up to 15 inches, the starter configuration includes a 12-core Snapdragon X2 Elite processor, 16 GB of RAM, and 512 GB of SSD storage for $1950, while the highest-end configuration–X2 Elite, 32 GB of RAM, and 1 TB of SSD–is $3000.
Surface Pro for Business is available only in the 13-inch form factor with prices starting at $1650 for a 10-core Snapdragon X2 Plus configuration with 16 GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD, and the models range all the way up to $3700 for a 12-core Snapdragon X2 Elite configuration with 64 GB of RAM and 1 TB of SSD storge.
Hey, at least there are no instant-regret 8 GB configurations as there are now with the consumer Surface PCs based on Snapdragon X2.
