Samsung Will Now Preinstall Amazon Music on “Millions” of Galaxy Phones and Tablets

Amazon Music app

Samsung announced today that it has partnered with Amazon to bring its Amazon Music app to its Galaxy Store for Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The other side of this partnership is that the company will also preinstall this app on “millions” of Galaxy devices, whether you want it or not.

“We are constantly finding new ways to deliver special benefits and value for our Galaxy users,” said Izzet Asayas, Head of CTV & Mobile Business Development. “Through our collaboration with Amazon Music, Samsung continues to elevate premium experiences across the Galaxy experience.”

To sweeten the pot, Amazon will be offering a 3-month free trial of Amazon Music Unlimited for new subscribers on Galaxy devices. The limited-time offer will be available for all Galaxy owners who download the Amazon Music app from the Galaxy Store. The subscription will automatically renew at $12.99/month at the end of the free trial.

Amazon Music may not get as much recognition as Spotify or Apple Music, but the streaming service offers podcasts in addition to 100 million songs, and the Unlimited subscription also includes spatial audio support and one Audible audiobook to listen to every month. This is notably different from the audiobook perk in Spotify Premium, which lets users listen to different audiobooks for up to 15 hours per month.
