Xbox Consoles Are Now Up to £170/€200 More Expensive in the UK and EU

Microsoft announced in late June that it would once again raise the price of its Xbox Series X|S consoles worldwide due to storage and memory price increases. In the US, prices increased by $100 for 512 GB models and $150 for 1 TB models on August 1. We didn’t know about the new UK and EU prices until now, and the price bump is quite massive.

Overall, we’re looking at £130/€150 price increases for the Xbox Series S 512GB (+43%), and up to £170/€200 price increases for 1TB models (+33%). Here are the new prices in detail in the UK and the EU:

UK

• Xbox Series S 512GB: £429.99 (previously £299.99)
• Xbox Series S 1TB: £519.99 (previously £349.99)
• Xbox Series X 1TB Digital: £619.99 (previously £449.99)
• Xbox Series X 1TB with disc drive: £669.99 (previously £499.99)

Europe

• Xbox Series S 512GB: €499.99 (previously €349.99)
• Xbox Series S 1TB: €599.99 (previously €399.99)
• Xbox Series X 1TB Digital: €749.99 (previously €549.99)
• Xbox Series X 1TB with disc drive: €799.99 (previously €599.99)

In comparison, Sony’s PlayStation 5 without a disc drive now starts at £519.99/€599.99. The model with a disc drive is priced at £569.99/€649.99, which is still cheaper than the Xbox Series X with a disc drive. Lastly, the PlayStation 5 Pro, the most powerful console on the market, is currently priced at £789.99/€899.99.

Overall, it’s really hard to recommend Xbox consoles right now when the PlayStation 5 is cheaper and now receives Xbox games like Halo: Campaign Evolved and the upcoming Fable. The critically-acclaimed Forza Horizon 6 is also on track to be released on PlayStation 5 before the end of the year.

In June, Microsoft announced that it was “working with retail partners on new programs to provide previously played consoles at lower prices.” The company also introduced a new Buy Now, Pay Later option on the Microsoft Store and said it was working with partners on new interest-free financing options.
