Ask Maps in Google Maps Expands to Over 150 New Countries, Adds New Agentic Features

Ask Maps, the new Gemini-powered conversational experience in Google Maps that debuted in the US in March, is expanding to Australia, Brazil, Canada, Indonesia, Japan, and Mexico, as well as to over 150 countries and territories in English. Moreover, Ask Maps is gaining access to real-time transit information and is adding support for Gemini’s Personal Intelligence system and new agentic features.

First of all, Ask Maps can now understand multi-step instructions for finding and booking hotel rooms or concert tickets, ordering food, and more. The Gemini-powered feature can search for local venues and events, compare prices in real time, and surface more relevant suggestions when the Personal Intelligence feature is enabled. This will let Ask Maps access personal information stored in Gmail and Google Calendar to offer more personalized answers.

The new conversational food ordering experience is launching in the US today, and it integrates with Square and Toast, with support for Uber Eats coming soon. “ Once you select a restaurant, Ask Maps can automatically add the dish you’re looking for directly to your cart so you can easily review and complete your order,” the Google Maps team explained.

With access to real-time transit information, Ask Maps can now warn users about accidents on the road, public transport delays, and more. Moreover, the new experience now lets users suggest edits to Maps’ information conversationally. “You can even upload a photo of a storefront sign — Maps will detect the new hours from the image, and ask you to confirm before submitting the suggestion for you,” the Google Maps team explained.
